Congratulations to all expecting mothers out there! You are growing a new life inside of you and you must be wondering where to go from here for the best prenatal health. What should you eat? What should you do for exercise? And most importantly, what can you do to prepare a healthy environment for your new baby.
Preparing a healthy environment for your new baby starts with your own health. You must remember that caring for your prenatal health is vitally important to provide your baby a healthy place to grow and develop. Starting with lifestyle, the way you live, an expecting mother must make the healthiest choices for what enters her body and what she does with her body. For example, smoking and drinking while pregnant will harm the development of the baby. Choosing to avoid this type of lifestyle during pregnancy will allow for optimal health for you and your baby.
Pregnancy may not be the right time to start training for an Iron Man, but you definitely can start staying active to help keep your body healthy. Swimming, walking, yoga, and riding on a stationary bike are all ways to keep your blood flowing. Studies show proper exercise and good overall prenatal health leads to an easier birth.
Stress is shown to cause major health problems. When we are worried, upset, and stressed, it causes the body to release stress hormones. The release of stress hormones is not healthy for a developing baby. Instead of getting stressed, keep a positive attitude. Put your mind to living a healthy lifestyle and making wise choices for you and your baby. Put your positive thoughts to action by exercising 3-5 times a week for 30 minutes a day. Ask your family to help motivate you to eat healthy and choose smarter foods. Having a baby is a stressful life event, whether you are pregnant for the first time or are adding another child to your existing family. Staying positive starts with you and the impact of that positivity will go a long way.
The best advice I can give to you is: Choose real foods. Choose vegetables and fruits over fried and artificial foods. Make wise choices by choosing to eat well. Avoid foods that are high in sugars, high in fats, high in calories, and contain hydrogenated oils and artificial sweeteners.
Here is a list of the tops foods for healthy pregnant mothers: Seafood (salmon), nuts (raw), greens, avocados, eggs, yogurt, blueberries, beans and lentils, flaxseeds, olive oil, tofu, and oatmeal.
I have faith in you that you will make smart healthy choices during your pregnancy. Preparing for a new life won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible.
